One More Point Towards Safety
By Debbie Taylor

Celtic dropped another place to eighteenth after drawing with play-off certainties, AFC Fylde.

Celtic matched Fylde, who moved into second with the point, and there were chances at both ends. Fylde's first real chance came when former Celt, Bohan Dixon's shot was blocked on route by Pete Wylie, the rebound falling to Danny Rowe who's effort was stopped by Tony McMillan. At the other end, Jack Higgins's header was a fairly routine catch for Ben Hinchliffe, whereas the save denying Alec Mudimu was superb by Hinchliffe, point blank, the rebound coming back to Mudimu who put his second bite over the bar. The bar then saved Celtic when Dixon's effort crashed off the underside and came back out.

A long throw was Fylde's undoing, failing to deal with the ball as it moved through the box, Alex Mudimu's head took it just beyond the defence, and Matty Hughes acrobatically scissor kicked the ball into the back of the net.

Celtic needed to hang on in the second half, with Fylde looking for an equaliser. The defence held firm for quarter of an hour, until a run by James Hardy and ball into the box was not dealt with properly a mix up with the bouncing the ball. Sam Finley got the final telling touch curling it beyond the reach of McMillan.

It could have been worse, without some great keeping from McMillan when Rowe broke through one-on-one, McMillan twice stopped Rowe, and then got back to deny Sam Finley.

Celtic prevented any other clear cut chances, and right at the death Ben McKenna had half a chance as he twisted and turned before curling his shot over the bar to leave it goalless.
