Celtic Win PSF Against FC United
By Debbie Taylor

An entertaining game saw Celtic beat our former tenants with a single late goal that was justified on the balance of play.

One of the Celtic trialists kicked off the chances, latching onto a great cross from another trialists. The fierce drive was well stopped by FC United's keeper, Lloyd Allison. It wasn't all Celtic's way, and Craig Lindfield fired in a corking shot that crashed back off the bar. The only other real chances in the half were headers from Gary Gee and Aaron Burns, both of who had good chances, but were off target.

Lindfield started the second half with a chance for FC United, a shot that had Port Vale reserve keeper, Joe Slinn, flying, and grateful it was wide. Liam Dickinson twice went close within moments of coming on, first with an overhead kick, and then with stunning thirty-yard half-volley that whistled past the post.

Connor McCarthy squandered a glorious chance to open the scoring for the visitors when he turned a cross wide of a gaping goal from close range. At the other end, Paul Ennis's free kick had to be pushed around the post. One of the Celtic trialists crashed his shot through a crowd, having it smack against the foot of the post, the ball coming to Mendes, who forced a great stop from Allison.

Finally, with minutes to go, Theo Bailey-Jones swooped in on a superb cross and finished with the outside of his boot, curling the shot into the top corner.
