A second home win on the bounce saw Stalybridge Celtic go level on points at the top of the NPL West after a six goal thriller at Bower Fold.

Building on the dramatic finish to the win over Nantwich Town, it seemed as if things were going to be very much in the ascendancy from the off, when Darius Osei was able to latch onto a through ball and calmly finish to score his second goal in consecutive games since his return.

From then on, City Of Liverpool gradually began to get a hold of proceedings and turned the game on its head.

A deft header from a corner brought an equaliser, before they were able to take the lead through a penalty, awarded for handball following a goalmouth scramble, after lengthy consultation.

Showing a never give up attitude, the game then perhaps turned and swung back in the Celts favour on the stroke of half time, when a corner was diverted into their own net by the Purps, sending the sides in level at the break.

This galvanised the boys in blue who gradually plugged and plugged away in the second half and got the just rewards that befit a team, who are looking more and more comfortable towards the top echelons of the league.

Connor O'Grady nodded home from a Cole Lonsdale free kick to give Celtic the lead back on 76 minutes, before Aaron Dwyer went one on one from a Jack Irlam through ball to slot home a trademark finish and apply the coup de grace just two minutes later.

The only negative part in the evening entertainment was a nasty looking injury to Jordan Burton, who was stretchered off after a 50/50 challenge mid-way inside the second half.

There is certainly a feel good atmosphere around Bower Fold this season and long may that and the wins continue.
