Head away from Bower Fold towards Glossop.
At the traffic lights at the Glossop turning, continue straight to join the A628.
Stay on the A628 through Tintwistle to where it becomes the Woodhead Pass (if the Woodhead pass is closed, go across up to M62 and down the M1).
Stay on the A628 Woodhead Pass to the Flouch Roundabout (about 11 miles from Tintwistle).
Turn right (exit 3 of 4) onto the A616.
After nine miles, there is a roundabout with the A61; continue straight across (exit 3 of 4) to stay on the A616 (signposted M1 Southbound).
After a mile join the M1 Southbound at junction 35a.
Stay on the M1 for 41 miles to junction 26 (Nottingham).
At the roundabout at the end of the slip road, turn left (exit 1 of 4) onto the A610.
Stay on the A160 for three miles.
You will cross two roundabouts, first with the A6002 after 600 yards (exit 3 of 5) and second with the B6008 (exit 2 of 4).
Half a mile after crossing the A6514 (where the road becomes Nuthall Road) you will reach a set of traffic lights.
Turn left here onto the A6310 (Gregory Boulevard).
After one mile you will reach the end of Gregory Boulevard and turn left onto the A60.
After nearly two miles you will see the Vale Hotel, turn right here onto Thackerays Lane.
After quarter of a mile there is a roundabout.
Go straight across (exit 3 of 6) onto Arno Vale Road.
Stay on Arno Vale Road for one mile, through a set of lights at the top of the hill (the road becomes Gedling Road) and down to a set of lights with the B684.
Proceed straight across at the lights onto Arnold Lane.
Stay on Arnold Lane for just over two miles to a junction with the A612.
You will pass a golf course, Gedling Colliery and a church, and go straight across a mini-roundabout.
Turn left onto the A612, towards Southwell (Burton Road).
After 230 yards (going under the railway bridge), the third right is Stoke Lane, signposted Stoke Bardolph, turn right here.
Stay on Stoke lane for one and a quarter miles, over a level crossing, to the Ferryboat Inn.
