Stalybridge Celtic FC Community Development have just completed their first ever Girls U11's Cup, ‘She Scores'.
The 6-a-side competition allowed Primary Schools in Tameside and the High Peak the opportunity to field two teams into the tournament, with the chance of playing on the Bower Fold pitch in the Final.
Events were held at Glossopdale Community College in Hadfield for High Peak Schools and at Copley Academy in Stalybridge, for Tameside Schools.
The Final of ‘She Scores' took place at Stalybridge Celtic FC after the last home fixture of the Skrill North season versus Workington FC, which Stalybridge Celtic won 2-0, and was between St. Christopher's RC Primary from Ashton-under-Lyne and Dinting Primary from Glossop.
Many of the Celtic supporters along with friends and family of the girls playing, watched as St. Christopher's RC ran out 6-0 winners on the day to be crowned champions!
Stalybridge Celtic FC would like to thank Leanne Pace at Glossopdale, John Connolly at Copley Academy and Robert Curran from Manchester United FC Foundation for their help in making the tournament a success.
Stalybridge Celtic FC, Community Development Officer, Mike Smith said ‘We have had a great response from local Primary Schools to get involved in the ‘She Scores' tournament, and have had some fantastic matches in the group stages, with the game being played in the right manner and spirit. I would like to thank everyone who participated, we certainly enjoyed running it.
Next year will see us work more closely with the Tameside FA and Tameside School Sports Partnership, to grow the competition and widen the participation'
