Last Saturday saw us participate in a National Initiative from The FA, in partnership with the Cheshire FA, called 'Reds v Blues'. The aim was to encourage Adults to take part in an organised game of football, anywhere in England, on 7th June, playing for either the 'Reds' or the 'Blues'.

Tens of thousands of people around the country took part in a weekend of football celebration, as The FA hosted events to encourage people to get outside and enjoy the nation's favourite game.

Our game took place at the Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Soccer School, between a Stalybridge Celtic Staff Team (Blues) and Coaches from the Juniors (Red).

Despite the constant pouring rain, the game was played in great spirit, with the Juniors Coaching Staff running out winners 12-5, giving victory to the Reds.

Once the game had finished we submitted the score to The FA, who would then calculate who won on the day, nationally, either the Reds or the Blues, so even though we lost, we still could have won overall....but, that hope was quickly dashed as the national score was...

Reds 31,173 v Blues 28,794.

Our sincere thanks go to Adam Doyle (Cheshire FA), Garry Pearce (Celtic Juniors), our very own Kit Man, Mark Storah and Jay Lucas, for making the event a huge success.......looking forward to next year already!
