Next Monday sees the popular format of the beautiful game, 'Walking Football', coming to Stalybridge. The sessions are open to anyone over the age of 50, and will take place on the AstroTurf pitches at the Copley Centre, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge, SK15 3RR, from 2.00pm to 3.00pm each and every Monday afternoon for six weeks, starting on 29th September 2014.

The sessions will be delivered by Stalybridge Celtic FC and Wellfit CIC from Glossop, in partnership with the Cheshire FA and Age UK Tameside.

Some of you may remember the visit to Bower Fold v Stockport County FC, when Glossop Gentlemen FC took to the pitch during half time, to display their walking football skills....now you can participate in this rapidly growing format of the game.

The aim of the weekly sessions are to give older men and opportunity to get back playing football, keep healthy and active, along with making new friends.

We are looking at these six sessions as a 'pilot' project, leading to a bid for funding to establish and build the sessions all year round and develop walking football in Tameside.
