As Match Day is upon us again this afternoon, for the visit of Lowestoft Town FC, which is nearer Holland than Stalybridge by the way, our Match Poem by Stuart Vallantine, is 'Getting There'....
What a fortnight we've had, season in miniature.
A win, a loss, a draw, that was some adventure.
Surprise win at County, less said about Chorley,
As for Tamworth, boy we were unlucky.
The added time equaliser, what a bummer,
Cancelled out Bo Dixon's 35 yard stunner.
Somehow we're getting there, fairly steadily.
Fast as we'd like? Some say 'not quite', best gradually.
Saturday sees the Trawlerboys, 1 – 1 last time.
Improve on last year's game, a win'll be fine.
Last season's game, uninspiring. Let's change tack.
But they're good at surprise, so we can't be slack.
Carry on motoring, Bo and Co front facing.
His speed and flair, and goal scoring sees no fading.
Somehow we're getting there, picture's pretty good,
Persistence will pay off, with winning in the blood.
A busy month awaits us, league and F.A. Cup too.
Today against Lowestoft, we need to pull through.
Push for something pulsating, truly exciting,
The joy of winning, more fans through, cheering.
