We’re excited to have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Navid Nasseri.
The 28-year-old most recently played for Macclesfield, after spending three years playing in Ireland for the likes of Glentoran, Linfield and Larne. Whilst in Ireland, he helped Glentoran to the Irish Cup in 2020, repeating the same with Linfield the following season as well as the NIFL Premiership title.
After signing for Celtic, Navid said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be at the Club and can’t wait to get playing after a long journey getting back to playing football.
“I want to thank the Gaffer and Dan Whiteside for bringing me in and I’m looking forward to playing in front of our fans. Tomorrow.
“I’m a creative midfielder who wants to make a difference and demands a winning culture within the team.”
James Kinsey added: “Nav will provide us with more quality in the final third and is different to anything we have at the minute.
“He is really good in tight spaces and will hopefully bring goals and assists to the team.”
Starting his career at Manchester United’s Academy, Navid spent time with Bury and Birmingham City before signing for Macclesfield in 2016. A spell with Swedish side Syrianska FC saw him return to the UK with Gillingham, making eight League One appearances down in Kent.
Three years in Ireland followed before a return to Macclesfield last season. Navid now links up with Celtic ahead of Saturday’s away trip to Newcastle Town.
