We’re delighted to confirm the signing of central defender Macauley Wilson.

The 29-year-old defender joins Celtic from Bamber Bridge and adds defensive resilience, leadership and experience to Dave Jones’ squad.

Starting his career in the youth ranks a Manchester United and Blackpool, Macauley spent time on loan with Bamber Bridge and Fylde before signing permanently for The Brig in 2017. This began the start of a seven-year affiliation with Bamber Bridge which saw Macauley become their club captain.

Macauley has also featured for Bury and Ramsbottom where he was also captain, before re-joining Bamber Bridge earlier this season. He now arrives at Celtic ahead of this weekend’s trip to Vauxhall Motors.

On signing for the Club, Macauley, said: “I’m really looking forward to joining the Club. I had a good chat with the Gaffer and Brian which excited me to join the Club and this group of players. I want to come in and help push the team on with my experience and leadership to get to where we want to be at the end of the season."

Dave Jones, added: “We’re really pleased to get Macauley in. He is an experienced defender with good leadership qualities and he’ll complement our back line well with the recent addition of Kailen from Sheffield Wednesday.”

Welcome to Celtic, Macauley.
