Match Preview :- Wythenshawe - Tuesday September 15th, 2026 (19:45:00)

On Tuesday, Celtic host Wythenshawe in a league clash. Freshly promoted Wythenshawe are currently sixth, on 11 points, three places and a point above Celtic having played a game less.

Wythenshawe have won all three home games this season, but away from home have drawn their last two against Witton (1-1) and Congleton (0-0), and lost their opening away match 3-0 to Hanley, this makes them unbeaten in their last five matches, but yet to have a win away from home. It’s too early to spot the Golden Boot winner, with seven different scorers on the chart, though Joel Ankers has two, to everybody else’s one. They’ve found the net seven times at home this season, but only once away, Darius Palma opening the scoring against Witton. On average they score 0.3 goals per away game and 1.3 overall, whilst conceding 1.3 away goals and conceding 1.2 overall. Wythenshawe have failed to score twice on the road, and scored in every home match, whilst they have kept one away clean sheet from three overall.

They cantered to the championship in the Northwest Counties league last season finishing top, with 106 points. Ramsbottom finished second, but Padiham beat both Atherton LR and them to take the play off spot. An incredible 128 goals for, gave Wythenshawe the best attack, whilst 52 goals against was the fourth best defence.

Our last meeting with Wythenshawe was two seasons ago when they finished third bottom, and we drew 2-2 away, with Milan Lalkovic opening the scoring and Joe Duckworth snatching a point at end. Another late goal in Wythenshawe’s last visit to Bower Fold saw them take all three points after Sean Tse and Liam Tongue had pulled back an awful start, getting us level at the break.
