Comfortable Celtic See Off Sorry Tigers
By Iain Benson
Hyde struggled to find any kind of fluency against a stuttering Celtic, and never really threatened Jan Budtz goal.

Phil Marsh had an early chance as Connor Jenning's cross flashed across the face of goal before Steve Brogan put the perfect ball between the centre-backs for Marsh to run onto. He drew the keeper and slotted the ball between Kyle Clancy's legs. It could have been two seconds later when he turned onto Mitchell Austin's low pass but Chris Lynch's stuck out leg denied him.

At the other end, Hyde's only real effort came from the boot of Tranmere loan player Danny Hudson, who tried his luck from distance, it looked to be going wide, but Jan Budtz made sure at his post. Hyde's best chance came from a whipped in cross from Ashley Young that Dale Johnson threw a boot at, but his legs weren't long enough.

Celtic started the second half, but Hyde appeared to have stayed in the dressing room. Austin's underpowered snap-shot was a comfortable catch for Clancy, but he was nowhere near Brogan's corner, which he cheekily curled to the near post, striking the corner of the frame.

It looked like Celtic would try and frustrate their hosts, hitting when openings presented themselves. Adam Kay's ball over the top allowed Marsh to leave Scott McNiven in his wake and go one-on-one with Clancy. Marsh rounded the Hyde keeper, who slid in taking Marsh's legs. Clancy walked, with McNiven taking the keeper jersey and facing Brogan's penalty. Brogan converted comfortably, and Celtic never looked more comfortable. It was a case of avoiding conceding and injuries for Celtic as they kept Hyde at arms length for the remainder of the match.
